The resolution of an image is measured in dots per inch (dpi). The higher the dpi, the sharper the image will be. However, higher dpi images also require more memory and take longer to print.
The following table shows the recommended dpi for different print sizes:
Print Size | Recommended DPI |
---|---|
Up to 4x6 inches | 150 dpi |
5x7 inches to 8x10 inches | 200 dpi |
11x14 inches to 16x20 inches | 240 dpi |
Larger than 16x20 inches | 300 dpi |
If you are unsure of the dpi of an image, you can use an image editor to check it. Most image editors will display the dpi of an image in the image's properties.
Once you have chosen the right dpi for your image, you can print it using a printer that supports the desired resolution.
